Tuesday and still nothing from BMW. I can’t keep phoning so I fire off a polite email to the sales manager.
Half hour later a reply pings into my email in box.
Dear Charlie
Sorry for the delay in coming back to you.
I’m afraid that we’ve now offered the position to a candidate, who has accepted our offer, and our salary terms.
Charlie, I have no doubt that you would be able to do the job, but in the current climate, having somebody who will ‘hit the ground running’ is quite important, and it is this factor which counted in the other persons favour.
The successful applicant has been in senior sales positions with Mercedes for the last twelve years, and has recently relocated to this area.
I’m sorry, but would still like to wish you the best of luck for the future.
Regards.
Simon Philpott
Well, that’s that then.

Keep going. Forget about BMW.
As I said before you’d have been extraordinarily lucky to get that position in terms of the amount of time spent on your job search so far.
Something will come, just not quite as quickly as you’d have liked.
